While working overseas in Spain I manage to move to this beautiful city. It was definitely a nice change of pace compared to the fast-moving city life that I’m normally accustomed to. I have additional photos of various cites that I have traveled to that I would like to create separate post on while relocating to Spain. But in the meanwhile, if you ever travel to Rota in the summer highly recommend the following.
What to Do in Rota
Beyond admiring the lighthouse, Rota offers a vibrant array of activities:
1. Relax on the Beaches
Enjoy the sun and sand at Playa de Rota or explore nearby beaches like Playa Punta Candor and Playa Costa Ballena. These pristine beaches are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or engaging in water sports like paddleboarding and surfing.
2. Explore Rota’s Historic Town Center
Stroll through the charming streets lined with whitewashed buildings, lively plazas, and local shops. Don’t miss the impressive Church of Our Lady of O. The town’s relaxed ambiance and friendly atmosphere make it a perfect place to unwind.
3. Visit the Maritime Museum
Learn about Rota’s seafaring history at the local maritime museum. It’s an insightful stop that highlights the town’s important naval past, with exhibits on shipbuilding, local fishing, and maritime traditions.
